Greek Interpreting Overview

Accurate, assured and fast interpreting is critical to the success of any international business negotiation. Your Greek language audience will be able to judge the fluency and coherence of your presentation only through the interpretation they hear. International Translation Services have 25 years experience in selecting the best interpreters to meet any requirement.

Interpreting services can be provided in three different forms to suit particular situations.

Business/Liaison Interpreting in Greek

Interpreting will be done more or less sentence by sentence, allowing a smooth interchange between those on both sides. The absence of a solid stream of speech makes the interpreting conversational and interactive, enabling questions, answers and clarification in both directions at any time. It is the ideal form of interpreting for business meetings, where both parties need to be satisfied they have been able to raise issues and had them addressed.

Consecutive Interpreting

Here the interpreter will take notes in Greek while the speaker is speaking. Only after the speaker has finished will the interpreter deliver the speech in Greek. Consecutive interpreting is mostly used for speeches or spontaneous talks which cannot be interrupted.

Simultaneous Interpreting in Greek

The interpreter will deliver their Greek interpreting at the same time the speaker is speaking, never more than a few words behind. Because two people are speaking at once, simultaneous interpreting is mainly used at large-scale venues such as conference centres or government buildings which have special facilities including booths and headphone systems. On a smaller, impromptu scale, simultaneous interpreting can be carried out by “whispering”.

Greek Interpreting Requirements

Your Greek interpreting should be carried out politely, efficiently and unobtrusively. You are the person delivering the speech and making the decisions. interpreting needs to be entirely self-effacing, and all but invisible to your Greek colleagues.
